What is "Internal Family Systems"?

The creator of IFS, Richard Schwartz, made this video (17 minutes) to explain just that! It is a trauma modality that recognizes and respects all the experiences a person may feel, even when the emotions may be contradictory.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

I offer sliding scale on a case by case basis to members of marginalized communities, especially queer individuals with eating disorders.  If clients are in need of a letter for gender affirming surgery, please email me.

How long does each therapy session take?

Typically, therapy sessions are one hour in length.  However, some insurance companies have limitations on the frequency and / or duration of therapy sessions that can be billed, which we can discuss during our initial consultation call.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice for cancellation, and unexplained absence may result in a $50 no show fee.  After no contact for 30 days, I will consider you to be discharged from my care.

Can I opt out of using insurance?

YES!  Many individuals do this for various reasons, and we can discuss your needs.  My standard rate is $175 for an initial evaluation, and $150 per sixty minute therapy session.

Do you provide couples therapy?

Although I have experience in many areas, I have not trained as a couples therapist, and thus refer to external providers for couples counseling, usually to a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with dedicated training in family systems.

What are my billing protections under the No Surprises Act?

Do you charge for Gender Affirming Surgery letters?

I only charge for letter sessions if the client feels they are in a financial position to pay and/or cover the cost of their copay/insurance fee.  There is never a charge for the letter.

The No Surprises Act was enacted into federal law as of January 1, 2022. The legally required notice of these laws can be found here:
