About Me

Lauren Millerd

LCSW (CT) #9751
LICSW (MA) #123857

I am trained as a clinical social worker, dedicated to providing quality, trauma-informed care to individuals of all genders, relationship statuses, and sexual orientations. I actively prioritize clients from marginalized populations and work to eliminate gatekeeping to gender affirming care whenever possible. I place emphasis on having a strong connection with my clients.

Therapeutic Approach

Fundamentally, I provide trauma-informed therapy using modalities that work for you, with the belief that the therapeutic relationship is most important. Modalities of therapy may include: Internal Family Systems (level 1 trained), Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Resiliency Model (level 1 & 2 trained), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT).

Trainings

I have completed formalized education in the following modalities:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Basic Course (2013)

  • Eating Disorder Basic Competencies (2014)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (2014-2015)

  • Internal Family Systems, Level 1 (2015-2016)

  • Motivational Interviewing Intensive (2017)

  • Trauma Resiliency Model Levels 1 & 2 (2021)

  • Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (2021)

  • Internal Family Systems, Level 2: Advanced Skills and Techniques (2022-2023, ongoing)

Experience
I have a variety of work experience in both western Massachusetts & Connecticut, including working as a psych tech in an inpatient hospital, at PHP/IOP programs for eating disorders, adult mobile crisis, assessment/diagnosis, and outpatient treatment.

Hobbies

In my free time, I am a genealogist, hiker, cyclist, board game enthusiast, history lover, and spend a lot of time with family. I love learning about history, and also am involved in advocacy for access to eating disorder treatment.

Identity

I am a cis female, white, and member of the queer community.  I am affirming of relationship styles and forms (poly, monogamous, kink).  I am open to clients who wish to ask questions regarding my identity prior to engaging in therapy during a consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
